Mac Management Basics 10.8

22 July 2013

A couple of months ago, Apple announced a new qualification for IT technicians. The Mac Management Basics 10.8 course gives technicians the skills to deploy and manage multiple Mac computers. Our partners, Amsys, have recently developed a course geared towards training for this qualification and, as a result, we are able to offer this course.

The course includes methods for deploying software including creating installer packages and using network disk images for system software deployment. It also involves learning solutions for managing OS X computers, including using Apple Remote Desktop and Profile Manager. The use of Software Update and Caching services in OS X Server to assist with management and deployment of updates and apps are also discussed on this course.

Amsys are able to bring this course to students in a very hands-on and practical way. Students will be using tools such as the NetBoot & NetInstall Service, Software Update Server, Caching Service, Remote Desktop, System Image Utility, Package Maker and the command line. With these tools students will cover the following topics: Creating Installer Packages, Creating System Images, Deploying System Images, Managing Computers with Apple Remote Desktop, Policy Management, Managing Software Updates and Caching Software Downloads.

All of this material is packed into a two-day course and serves as a great knowledge and skill boost for Apple IT technicians. The course is recommended for professionals such as help desk specialists, technical coordinators, service technicians or IT professionals who need to distribute and manage multiple Macs in any corporate or medium business environment.

If you are interested in the course and would like to register yourself, call Total Training Solutions today on 0800 612 1299 or contact us via the website. If you would like to see what other courses we have to offer, take a look at our course directory.
