APMP for PRINCE2 (R) Practitioners Fasttrack

Description

Project Management methodologies, of which PRINCE2 is the paradigm, offer the Project Manager tried and tested structure and guidance in support of why, what, when, where and who...with one notable exception; PRINCE2 offers very limited guidance on ‘How’, in that there are no detailed project management tools and techniques covered as part of the method. This is the remit of the APMP for PRINCE2 Practitioners course and examination.

This intensive 3 day course provides delegates with comprehensive training to prepare them for the APMP examination (based on the APM Body of Knowledge, 5th Edition). It accredits the prior learning that a PRINCE2 Practitioner has attained by taking out of the examinable syllabus all of the topics that have already been assessed within the PRINCE2 Practitioner Exam.

The course will enable delegates to:

•Understand all elements of the APMP syllabus
•Get to grips with the specific examination language
•Learn strategies and tactics for approaching the examination. Examination practice and feedback is included in the workshop.

Delivered by fully accredited trainers and industry leading experts with extensive experience of using both the APM approach and the Prince2 methodology, the course combines presentations with individual and group practice of essay type examination questions on the APMP syllabus. Delegates will have the opportunity to raise and address examination topics of personal concern and will be expected to undertake some evening work at the end of each day.

The attainment of accreditations offered by professional bodies such as the Association for Project understanding Management (APM) is increasingly seen as a recognised indicator of competence in project management.

Course pre-reading and preparation

Delegates will be provided with pre-course reading and a copy of the APM Body of knowledge 5th Edition two weeks prior to attending the course. This pre-reading provides a mixture of theory and sample questions. The success on the course will be enhanced by close attention to the pre-reading materials.

If you have not received your pre-reading material within one week of the start of your course, please contact your Account Manager or the Examination Administration team on 44 (0)114 279 2799 or info@tts-uk.com

The course is intensive and therefore delegates are also advised to undertake some revision work in the evening to prepare for the APMP examination that can be taken at the end of the course. The additional work required during evenings will consist of consolidation reading and mock examination questions. The evening work is an integral part of the course and delegates should expect to spend 2-3 hours each evening on these activities.

Accreditations and Exams

Delegates sit the APMP for PRINCE2 examination on the afternoon of the last day of the course. This examination has been shortened to two hours (standard APMP is 3 hours) and with fewer questions to answer as questions covered by PRINCE2 are no longer examinable.

The examination consists of:

•6 essay based questions to be selected from a total of 10. Each worth 50 marks
•2 hours
•Closed-book
•Candidates require a minimum of 165 marks out of 300 (55%) to pass

By successfully passing the APMP examination candidates can choose to further develop their knowledge and understanding by attending the APMPQ Assessment Centre.

Practical Details

Delegates must bring photographic identification with them on exam days (passport, driving license or student card) as it is an examination requirement to produce it for the invigilator prior to the exam. Failure to produce a valid form of photographic identification may result in a candidate not being able to sit the exams. For any questions about what form of identification is acceptable, please contact your Account Manager or the Examination Administration team on 44 (0)114 279 2799
